Summary

The next chapter is titled “Three.” The girls search the house for any sign of a deed to the dam. Monday says this could be like a horror movie in which “the girl locks herself inside so she will be safe” (320) only to find the monster is also inside. Mab says that only happens if the girl is stupid or a slut. Monday counters, saying “You had sex … so let us look through all the boxes again” (320). Mab lay on her bed talking about sex while Monday and Mirabel read. Mirabel is so annoyed that she reminds herself that “if I killed them both, I would never be able to use the toilet again when my mother was not home” (321).
