Summary

The next chapter is titled “Two.” Monday talks about the various ways of classifying books. She has many of the books that came from the library when they closed the actual library, and the Mitchell home now serves that purpose with Monday as the “librarian.” There are books everywhere as a result, but Monday knows where everything is. She believes her job seriously and always goes home from school in case anyone needs a book. Monday believes people in Bourne are “stupider than other citizens” and should read more. She has discovered, however, that stupid people tend not to read at all. Jeff arrives, looking for a book about sewing or how to modify a wheelchair for snow. Monday brings him the closest books she has about snow, including an owner's manual for a 1995 Honda Civic which includes a section on snow tires...
