One Two Three: A Novel Overview

One Two Three, a novel by Laurie Frankel, is the story of a set of triplet sisters named Mab, Monday, and Mirabel. The triplets live in the small town of Bourne almost two decades after a chemical company poisons the water supply, killing many of the residents and leaving the rest to cope with physical, intellectual, and emotional fallout. Two decades later, the company's owners swear the chemical site is safe now. They are planning to reopen the plant, but the triplets are among those who do not believe the company's claim. When the sisters learn the safety results have been manipulated – again – they take matters into their own hands, destroying a dam that eliminates the plant's water supply. The novel's main themes are equality, the inevitability of life changes, and the sisters' relationships.
