Summary

The next scene is “The Female Cancers,” which takes place in a beer garden in Geneva. Jenny and Henri sit together outside. Henri believes they are waiting for Alice to arrive. Jenny tells Henri about her job selling income protection insurance to women in the event that they get cancer. Jenny asks about Henri’s job and his Quaker religion. Henri says he is working on solutions to malaria. He recalls that the pesticide DDT originally worked to kill mosquitoes but as time went by the younger generations became immune to it and it stopped working. Jenny asks rude questions and expresses offensive opinions about Henri’s work. Henri becomes increasingly agitated about why Alice has not arrived.
