Summary

In Chapter 30, Valora goes to Jamie's room and tells him about the story in the bulletin. Jamie says Valora should remain in his room from this point. The others go to dinner, but Valora remains alone in the room. Drummer arrives and asks for her opinion about a letter he has written to his wife. Valora approves. Valora changes out of the yellow dress into Jamie's clothes in preparation for the meeting with Mr. Stewart. In the process, the crewman called Skeleton enters and warns her not to scream.

In Chapter 31, Skeleton says he will not turn her in if she hands over the money she has. She manages to get one of Bo's carving tools and stabs him, but she throws up with the knowledge of what will happen to her now. Skeleton returns in a moment with the Master of Arms...
