Part Three, The Photojournalist, Chapters 33-39 Summary

The photojournalist, Kevin Hawkins, is at an airport to kill a business man. Hawkins watches the businessman walk up the corridor and then sets off a bomb. When the man's bodyguards turn to move him out of harm's way, Hawkins sets off another bomb that kills them all. The same day, Cross returns to the White House where he meets with President Thomas Byrnes. Cross finds the President intelligent and charming. Byrnes speaks with Cross about his children, giving him souvenirs for them. Byrnes also tells Cross that he believes he is the only man on the case who has the strength to stand up to everyone in order to do what needs to be done.
