Summary

Chapter 11 covers Davy’s first day of school in New York. Mother has enrolled him in an Episcopalian school. In his geography class, another boy, Altschuler, complains that Davy is shaking his desk from behind by moving his leg. Altschuler also complains that Davy has taken the seat of someone named Wilkins. In English class, Altschuler is selected to play Brutus in a play based on Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Davy is selected to play Caesar. Altschuler says he wants to be Caesar, but the students vote and decide that Davy will still play Caesar. After school, Davy encounters Altschuler on the bus. Altschuler tells Davy that his first name is Douglas, but that they do not use first names at school. The boys discover that they live near one another. Davy says that he does not mind if Altschuler wants to play...
