Ben’s Parents House

Ben lived with their Mom and Dad until they were kicked out of the house at age seventeen and went to live with their sister, Hannah. Ben’s parents’ house is located in Goldsboro North Carolina, which is a small city. This particular home environment is ripe with tension and conflict between the siblings and their parents, particularly their father. Throughout the novel, Ben and Hannah explore many moments of fear, aggression, deception, and disrespect in relation to their parents, and both children leave this setting out of rejection of those unhealthy dynamics.
