Summary

Chapter 26 is from Arthur’s perspective and also takes place on Friday, June 19th. Arthur is startled by Mikey’s grand gesture. He feels like a liar. The rest of the table is in awe of Mikey. Ben returns, still looking upset. Mario and Ben give the news about Los Angeles. Arthur feels pained, seeing Mario get Ben into publishing, after Arthur read Ben’s first draft. During the subway ride home, Arthur contemplates breaking up with Mikey. When they get back to the apartment, Arthur cries. Mikey thinks Arthur is crying because of the unresolved “I love you.” Arthur convinces himself he’ll break up with Mikey the following day. They go to bed, but cannot sleep.
