Nick Dunne: The Day of Pages 39-45 Summary

Nick is waiting for the police to arrive. He wants to explain to them how Amy would never leave the iron on, the teakettle going on the stove and then there's the sign of the struggle in the living room. Riordan, the male African-American cop, and Velasquez, the female Hispanic, cops show up to the house.

The two police officers call in two detectives, Jim Gilpin and Rhonda Boney. The detectives search upstairs and look around downstairs while they talk to Nick. Nick tells them it's their anniversary. Boney is looking at the wedding picture hanging on the wall while Nick thinks back to finding out how rich Amy was seven months into their relationship.
