Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “Ripples.” Life settles down. Fall and winter pass. “Frindle mania is over” (84) at Lincoln Elementary School, but the word is still being used. People develop the habit of saying frindle, and no one even notices when they say it. Kids in other towns begin saying frindle. Their parents and teachers try to stop it, but it grows just as it had in Westfield. Bud is making all sorts of frindle items for sale all over the world. A factory opens in Westfield, providing 22 jobs. The city council puts up a sign at the city limits, “Home of the Original Frindle” (84). Mrs. Granger stops making kids write their sentences and stops arguing about the word. Each week, the word “pen” is at the top of Mrs. Granger's spelling list.
