Summary

Chapter 9 is titled “Joining the Flock.” Zeus and Joan take seats in the tent. Joan reads pamphlet that outlines the objectives of the Ministry of the New Redemption, including: “We worship Jesus Christ, not other spirits, or totems, or animals” (117). Zeus snickers at the idea of worshiping animals. Joan feels the photo of Heiser could be a “stock photo search result for white businessman” (118). She sees Cecile join Heiser as they greet people. Zeus agrees that Reverend Wolff is Victor. Joan can see subtle differences, including that Wolff does not move with Victor's confidence.
