Chapter 5, The Tunnel Summary and Analysis

Ms. Eadie sensed a great power coming into the room with her and heard a great rushing sound. A darkness began to surround her, and she was drawn into something, as though being swallowed by a tornado. Ms. Eadie had been afraid of darkness all her life and knew she should be afraid now, but somehow she was not. Ms. Eadie traveled without effort, reclined, moving in a wave of tranquility that she felt she could live in forever. Ms. Eadie sensed other people and animals moving in the dark with her, and there were some who were not moving but appeared to be lingering in the darkness. Ms. Eadie felt peace and love in this darkness, a tranquility she had never felt before.
