Summary

In Chapter 55, before Emmy left for rehab, Demon visited her at June’s. They smoked and talked. Demon returned her bracelet. Emmy said Dori did not deserve Demon the way she did not deserve Hammer. She envied that Demon was always himself, and did not change “to suit people” the way she did (462). Demon realized Dori would never change for him.

On his way to Tommy’s, Demon ignored Dori’s calls. When he finally picked up, it was Angus. She begged him to “come, right now” (463). When he arrived at the house, U-Haul was chasing Angus. He said if she did not sleep with him, he would report Coach. He had already attacked her. Demon got him out and helped Angus lock herself inside.

In Chapter 56, in April, Demon found Dori dead at home. She had overdosed.
