Summary

In Chapter 8, Cassian knows a storm is going to hit Windhaven. The majority of the Illyrians are busy preparing. There are a few stores in the village. Cassian enters a clothing store. A female owns it, which is unusual for this tribe, and she does not lower her eyes as Illyrian females are taught to do. Cassian notes that her wings have been shredded, a terrible tradition that makes him furious. The female, Emerie, says her father died in the war. Cassian asks to buy all the winter items Emerie has available. He then pays her extra to deliver them to anyone in the village who needs them, and instructs her to say they are a gift from Rhysand.
