Summary

The novel opens with a map of Prythian that shows the layout of the continent with the Night Court at the northern end and the Spring Court as the southernmost court bordering the mortal lands.

Chapter 1 is from Feyre's perspective. She has breakfast alone because she and Rhysand are both incredibly busy. Feyre is High Lady of the Night Court, and Rhysand is High Lord. Feyre does her dishes and talks briefly with Nuala, a half-wraith who takes care of most of the household chores with the help of her twin, Cerridwen.
