Summary
In Chapter 10, two days after Jane’s “meeting with Hampton,” she gets a call from Marianne encouraging her to prepare some ideas for her and Hampton’s new show (118). Jane lies to Lenny, saying she is still doing research in Hollywood. She also suggests she give up on writing, but Lenny insists she stay with it. That night, she has a dream that she is having sex with Brett.
In Chapter 11, Jane feels hopeful on “the morning of her second meeting with Hampton” (125). She borrows Brett’s clothes and muses on the lies she is telling Lenny about her book and Hollywood meetings. Hampton’s assistants Layla and Topher lead her into Hampton’s office, where Jane meets the network executive Bruce Boland. After Bruce leaves, Hampton explains that they must impress Bruce.
