Summary

Part IV is titled England and opens with a quote from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The quote makes the distinction between being safe and being all right. Chapter 32 opens in November,1953. Joy continues to use the mantra “Life is ahead.” The boys are not impressed with their first foggy days in England. Joy worries about money. She knows Jack will help her but hates to ask. They visit the sights in London. Joy begins to consider a boarding school for the boys. She chooses one very nearby that encourages parents to visit often.
