Summary

Chapter 1 opens with Kyle Lafferty at his high school graduation party. His girlfriend Kimberly and his best friend Sam are among the attendees. Kyle and Kimberly have been a couple for years, though their relationship has been rocky. Tonight, Kyle is planning to give Kimberly a charm bracelet with charms he customized to symbolize important moments in their lives and with open links for the important moments in their shared future. He notices his fellow students are no longer divided into the groups that defined them leading right up to the moment they graduated.
