Alice

Alice is the main character in this novel. Her story is recounted through the journal in which she writes everything that happens along with her inner thoughts and desires. She has been raised by Hippie parents and always taught to express herself. When she goes to school for the first time in first grade she instantly realizes that she is different and becomes the victim of Linda, the first grade bully. After Linda hits her with a rock, Alice's mother takes her out of school. Since this day Alice knows that she is not like the other kids and she has a desire to be accepted and to be "normal". Alice sees a therapist and together they embark on her journey to achieving what she believes is going to lead her to happiness. Linda tends to be a pessimist and is often negative.
