Niveus Academy

Niveus Academy is the primary setting of the novel. Set in an unnamed town somewhere near the coast in the United States, the school is described as looking like Buckingham Palace. It is an elite prep school that is home to many of the wealthiest students in the country. Most of the students plan on moving on to Ivy League colleges once they graduate. The teachers, headmasters, and most of the student body are all involved in the Ace of Spades Secret Society, which has been running since 1965. Every ten years, the school admits two Black students and then ruins their life and forces them to drop out during senior year to promote what they call "social eugenics." During the summer, most of the Niveus students attend Camp Aces to celebrate their racism together.
