Chapter 9, Daenerys Summary

Daenerys Targaryen is hoping to claim the Iron Throne for her family. The Targaryens held the throne for some time before Robert Baratheon claimed the throne after King Aerys II's death. She is sailing for Pentos with Ser Jorah Mormont, a man named Arstan, and her three dragons. Arstan tells Daenerys about the Targaryen dragons of the old days. He also tells her about her father, King Aerys II, and brother, Prince Rhaegar. Ser Jorah tells her he believes Arstan is hiding something.

That night, Ser Jorah visits Daenerys in her room. He suggests they change course to Astaphor and buy the Unsullied, eunuchs who are highly trained, tough fighters. To convince her, he tells her of a battle four hundred years ago, when 3,000 Unsullied stopped over 50,000 Dothraki invaders from reaching the city of Qohor. Jorah tells her they can purchase...
