Classroom activity:
1. Teacher lecture includes information about Marc Connelly and the Pulitzer Prize winning drama, THE GREEN PASTURES.
2. Discuss in class the significance of an all black cast in a Broadway play in the 1920s.
3. Mention that THE GREEN PASTURES was also made into a movie and discuss the differences between a stage play and a feature film.
4. From the first scene of the play, establish the setting and the concept for the drama.
Homework: Write two or three paragraphs on the use of the choir singing Christian songs as the musical score for the play.
