Objective

Fade Away by Harlan Coben is the story of Myron Bolitar's investigation of the mysterious disappearance of his friend and rival Greg Downing, a professional basketball player. Myron is a sports agent, lawyer, and private investigator and was on his way to becoming a professional basketball player until a knee injury ruined his fledgling pro career. This lesson will discuss the character of Myron and his role as the protagonist of the novel.

1. Group Project: Divide the class into small groups. Have each group compile a list of character traits and known facts about Myron Bolitar. Ask the groups to put a plus beside any physical traits or facts about his appearance on their lists. Ask the groups to put an asterisk beside any emotional traits on their lists.
