Summary

Chapter 3

The doctors start to examine Alice, who still insists that it is 1998. One of the doctors finds a scar from a C-Section. Alice has a vague memory of someone telling her that there wasn’t a heartbeat, but she can’t remember what it was in reference to. The doctors go to prepare tests for Alice. She lies in bed and thinks about how if it really is 2008 her child is now 10 years old and she can’t remember anything about them. The book cuts away to Elisabeth’s report. She is trying to get in touch with Jane or someone else who knows about Alice, but nobody is picking up. She calls her husband, Ben, who promises to pick up Alice’s children from school.
