Summary

Chapter 57 is from Baz's perspective and drops back in time to the moment the gunfire begins. Baz refuses to remain still once he hears the shots and rushes up the dune, dragging Lamb along. He puts his hand in his pocket, grasping his wand to be prepared to use his magic the moment he feels it is necessary. Lamb then reveals that he handed Simon and Penny over to the Next Blood vampires because of a treaty in which the Las Vegas vampires hand over any mage that comes into the city. In return, the Next Blood vampires do not enter Vegas. As soon as Baz realizes Lamb betrayed them, he tries to cast a spell but nothing happens.
