As Lestat expects, Marius is furious with him for breaking his cardinal rule. Lestat tries to explain what happened and why he went down in the first place. Marius wants to hear nothing of it. He knows that Lestat did it to provoke some kind of change in them. With Enkil riled up, Marius sends Lestat away from the island immediately. Lestat, brokenhearted, has no choice but to leave.
