Part 3, Chapter 8 Summary

Lestat and Gabrielle press on toward Paris with no clear plan on how to proceed. As they are riding, Gabrielle reminds Lestat that the red frock coat placed on the stable boy was Nicki's coat. They know that the vampires are holding Nicki prisoner. As they approach Notre Dame, they go in, knowing that the others will not follow them in there. They seek out a dark corner and rest. Lestat, listening to their anguished cries just outside, is angered by the ambush.

Part 3, Chapter 8 Analysis

It is clear now that these other vampires want something of Lestat and Gabrielle, although it is not clear if they will kill them. With the way Lestat and Gabrielle are chased, it seems that there is more curiosity than pure malice behind their intentions. If these others truly wanted them dead they could have done so long before...
