Part 3, Chapter 1 Summary

As soon as it is sundown, Lestat rushes into Paris to be with his mother before she dies. When she looks upon him she knows that something is different about him. Seeing how badly deteriorated his mother is, Lestat offers to make her a vampire. He is unsure if the same process will work for Gabrielle as it did for Lestat when Magnus made him, but the thought of losing his mother is too much for him and so he takes the chance. She agrees to go along and become a vampire so that she can cheat death. As she makes the transformation into immortality, Lestat falls into a chair and passes out.
