Part 2, Chapter 8 Summary

Lestat decides it is time to go out and test his new powers. He goes on horseback to a nearby village and moves among the mortals undetected. Eventually, he decides to try an experiment by going into a tavern where there are mortals and orders wine. He is thrilled when he passes unnoticed; he passes as a mortal. As he gets ready to ride home, he senses the presence of other immortals. When he demands to know who it is, he hears nothing in response. Lestat also realizes at this time that he no longer feels fear. He is prepared to face head-on whatever lays in store.....
