Part 1, Chapter 8 Summary

It is in October of the first year Lestat and Nicholas are in Paris that Lestat begins to notice a strange face in the audience at the theatre. Lestat feels as though the man is playing tricks on him with his mind. He finally tells Nicki about it and Nicki brushes it off, concerned with his own problems. Nicki is afraid that he will never be recognized as a great violinist while living in Paris. Lestat furiously tries to convince him to stick with it and that what they do is good. Although he and Lestat share a close bond, Nicki is tired of hearing about Lestat's ruminations on good and evil.

During the next performance, Lestat notices the presence and sees the strange face again in the audience. He knows there.....
