Part 1, Chapter 1 Summary

It is the last decades before the French Revolution and Lestat is a mortal man of twenty. The family land is overrun by a pack of wolves. Since Lestat is in charge of hunting for the family, he takes it upon himself to find them and kill them. When he goes, he brings his two mastiffs with him, as well as some guns and two ancient weapons he never before had bothered with. Word arrives that there are five wolves in the pack, but when Lestat arrives at the mountain, he discovers eight. After a fierce struggle, Lestat manages to kill all eight wolves. When he returns home and tells his family, his brother Augustin does not believe that Lestat has killed all eight wolves. In that one moment, Lestat's feeling.....
