Betty Eadie
Betty Eadie was the author of this memoir. Betty was born to an Indian woman and a white man. When Betty was a small child, her parents divorced, and she and most of her nine brothers and sisters were sent to a Catholic boarding school. While at boarding school, Ms. Eadie suffered a severe bout of pneumonia and nearly died in the hospital. One night in particular, shortly after she was admitted, Ms. Eadie remembered the doctors standing over her saying there was nothing they could do and of a bearded man holding her in his arms. Ms. Eadie's parents and doctors have no recall of a bearded man having visited Ms. Eadie during this time.
Ms. Eadie lived with her dad for a short time after boarding school, and then she went to live with her mother. At fifteen, Ms. Eadie fell in love with the boy next door...
