Love

Love is an important theme in the novel “City of Heavenly Fire” by Cassandra Clare. The form of love dealt with in the novel is principally romantic, and affects various characters in different ways, with each character in turn affecting the plot of the novel and the series. Two couples in particular – Jace and Clary, Simon and Isabelle – come to heavily influence the plot through love.

Clary and Jace have struggled with their relationship throughout the entire Mortal Instruments series. In the present novel, they remain together, and grow stronger in love. This is reflected in the constant care and concern they show for one another, and their willingness to risk even their own safety for the other.
