Chapter 76, Sam Summary

Sam is at Castle Black with Gilly, her baby, and Mance Rayder's baby. Sam learns that Stannis landed his ship at the port near the end of the Wall and came along the ranger's roads to fight the wildings. Sam and Gilly had just returned to Castle Black when Stannis's soldiers got there. Stannis's army has defeated the wildings, and their survivors have fled into the forest. Sam is happy to see Jon Snow, but troubled to learn Jon is now a prisoner of Stannis. Sam tells Jon he is considering claiming Gilly's son is his, so they will be taken care of. Jon is still considered a traitor since he did not kill Mance, but not too many actually believe it.
