Chapter 26, Davos Summary

Davos is imprisoned for wanting to kill Melisandre. She visits him in prison and tells him that she is trying to keep the darkness at bay, and is a priestess of the light. She says she serves R'hllor, the god of light. She has been unable to make Stannis another son, and asks Davos if he wants to try. There is another god, the Great Other, who is the god of darkness. Davos asks how she knew of his plan, and she said she saw it in her flames. She says R'hllor is backing Stannis.

A few days later, Lord Alester Florent is thrown in the cell with Davos. Lord Alester thinks the war is lost, and was trying to send a letter to Tywin offering peace when he was caught. The alliance would have given up Stannis' claim to the...
