Chapter 2, Jaime Summary

Jaime Lannister is a prisoner being escorted by boat from Riverrun by his cousin, Ser Cleos, and a woman named Brienne. Lady Catelyn Stark has helped Jaime escape from prison so he can get his brother, Tyrion to release Catelyn's daughters. Jaime asks Brienne to remove his chains, but she refuses and calls him Kingslayer. Jaime antagonizes Brienne and she calls him a monster. Jaime knows Brienne has heard about his attempt to kill Brandon Stark, a seven-year-old boy, by throwing him out a window. Brandon had seen something Jaime did not want him to see, and Jaime told his sister Cersei what he had done.

Jaime shaves his head so he is harder to recognize. While traveling on the Red Fork river, they see many empty villages and several women hung from a tree. They stop to bury the women...
