Timeline

To gain a sense of the historical context of this story and relate it to other events that occurred before, during and after Julian's time, have students create and illustrate a timeline of the era in which Julian lives (circa 350AD). Go online to research some of the significant events, famous people, important battles, religious and cultural trends, etc. that occur within the span of a few hundred years before and after Julian is Emperor of Rome. Post the timeline in the classroom and refer to it during discussions of events in Roman, Greek and European history.
