Summary

In Chapter 12, Hazel disappeared. Ben and Malabar congratulated Adrienne's efforts. Adrienne felt guilty. When she pressed Malabar to tell her the truth of Hazel's fate, Malabar became angry. A rift grew between them. They did not reconnect until Malabar called her to say Charles's had an aneurysm, a surgery for which he only had a fifty percent chance of surviving. They scheduled the surgery for the fall, but would not tell Charles the plans until the summer ended.

In Chapter 13, Adrienne returned to her summer job at Sally's Clam Bar, where she met her new best friend Kyra. Over the summer, Adrienne fell her boss's boyfriend Hank.
