Chapters Twenty and Twenty-one Summary

Venetia takes the mail coach all the way to the Inn in her hometown. There she stops to get cleaned up and take a nap. However, she sleeps longer than she means to. She gets up and gets a chaise to take her to the Priory in the middle of the night, hoping that someone there will pay him, for she has spent all of her money.

When she arrives at the Priory, it is to find a drunken Damerel. He is excessively happy to see her, but also not himself. He tells her that she cannot stay, but she does not listen.
