Point of View

Desai uses two different narrators and two different points of view in her novel. The majority of the novel is told by Simi from the first-person point of view in the past tense. Consider Simi’s narration: “I’m definitely one of the people who need people. Leave me alone for more than a few hours and I’ll be speed-dialing my way through my contact list or skulking around the local coffee shop looking for familiar faces” (5).
