Summary

In Chapter 44, the seven Grandslayers sat in their uncomfortable chairs in the World Council chamber. The dome ceiling was stuck open. Scythes Anastasia, Curie, Goddard, and Rand entered. Citra argued her case for the inquest by reading the scythedom’s rules regarding the making of a scythe. Goddard claimed that Citra was just trying to deny the MidMerican scythedom their chosen leader. Supreme Blade Kahlo reprimanded Citra for attempting to manipulate the outcome of the High Blade election. The council decided that Goddard must complete an apprenticeship before being a true scythe again. This disqualified Goddard from his candidacy, so Scythe Curie became High Blade of MidMerica. At the end of the chapter, the Thunderhead said it feared for Citra.
