Summary

Part 2 begins with Chapter 25. It is May as Chapter 25 opens. Ammanee tells Stella that she has to tell Frye soon about the baby. Janie is upset that Stella ended up pregnant, but Stella confirms to her mother that she cleaned herself up with lemon juice after every time she had sex, but she got pregnant anyway. Janie says that Stella knows what she has to do if the baby is dark, but Ammanee gets upset. Janie says that the pain of motherhood begins when the cord is cut. Stella decides to do what her mother always taught her which is to focus on what she can control. More and more people are coming to Stella for maps believing them to be good luck. It is always women coming to look for maps for the men in their lives.
