Summary

The third part of the novel, “Darkness” begins with Chapter 30. Immanuelle rid through the darkness to the town of Ishmel. She found her grandmother, Vera Ward. She and her partner, Sage, invited Immanuelle in and let her stay the night.

In Chapter 31, Immanuelle talked to her grandmother and discovered that her mother had only ever tried to protect her. Lilith had used her desperation to take advantage of the magic in Immanuelle’s blood. There was only one way to stop the plagues: for Immanuelle to carve a sigil into her arm with a holy object and call their power to her. Suddenly, Ezra’s half-brother, Saul, arrived to capture Immanuelle.

In Chapter 32, Immanuelle was locked up in contrition for nearly two weeks. Then, she was told that she would go to trial and be given the opportunity...
