Summary

The next chapter takes place on Thursday. Phoebe wakes up and goes down to the ocean. She happens upon a fisherman who reminds her of her late father, with whom she used to fish when she was a child. She continues to receive messages from Matt, who is becoming increasingly concerned about her, but she does not reply. As she walks back to the hotel, Matt sends a message that reveals he has been in their house and discovered that Harry the cat is dead. Phoebe swears at her phone and considers throwing it off a cliff and is embarrassed to realize Gary is there and overheard her. Phoebe returns to the hotel. Lila asks Phoebe to take Juice to buy some shoes for the wedding.

The narration returns to the past. Phoebe and Matt had their friends Mia and Tom over for Thanksgiving...
