Chapter Twelve Summary

Jodie no longer wants to keep her appointment at Hills College, and cancels. They have breakfast in the hotel, and then Brian convinces them to walk to the Old State House to see where the Declaration of Independence was read. Brian loves the history of Boston. Janie wanders with them, her head so preoccupied that Brian has to stop her from walking out into traffic. They walk to the Old Corner Bookstore where Brian buys a copy of Paul Revere and the World He Lived In. Janie sees his purchase and teases him about being a closet historian. Jodie suggests he wrap the book in a Stephen King jacket so that his twin isn't horrified by his sudden change of interests.
