Summary

Apollo tells the reader that his son, Asclepius once explained that shock is needed when the brain cannot handle an experience. He does not have any memory of the crash, but knows they landed in the target parking lot. Meg is delirious and Reyna has a broken leg. Lavinia arrives with the dryads and fauns, pretending to be a doctor as they move the three into the woods before paramedics arrive. Reyna is furious that Lavinia deserted, but Lavinia says she is the back-up plan and has a dryad put Reyna to sleep. She promises to take Reyna to safety and directs Apollo and Meg to camp. Apollo feels that Lavinia has become a confident young woman, but is horrified to learn that she wants to use the spirits of the sea against the yachts. He feels it is a suicide mission, and...
