Chapters 11-12 Summary

The man who wrestled Becky to the ground is Jim. He tells Becky about Frau Busch. They watch as Frau Brush meets another woman in the dark. Jim believes that the second woman is the assassin. He follows them to the grotto, where they climb into a boat. He goes deeper into the cave using matches as light. He finds a padlocked cell with a man in it. The man is Prince Leopold.

Jim tells the man that he will somehow free him. Someone else approaches. The Prince is guarded. Jim leaves the grotto and returns to his room where he reads the note from Becky concerning the incident in the map room. After reading the note, Jim changes his mind about talking to the Count.
