Owen Conners

Owen is the classmate of Bethany Sanderson. As the story opens, Own is bored as he sits in math class studying fractions. Owen is bored with his life in general when he sees Bethany eating chocolate from a Willy Wonka book, then catches her jumping out of a book in the library where his mother works. Owen's boredom is a major part of his character, and is the main reason he pushes his way into Bethany's life and decides to take Kiel's place in the Kiel Gnomenfoot story. Owen is not a callous boy, but he ignores Bethany's rules as being overly cautious. It is not until he spends some time in the story with Charm, fighting the magical and scientific forces, that he realizes Bethany's rules were actually a good idea.

Initially, Owen believes he will be safe because the hero of a book never dies...
