Summary

Chapter 10 opens in August 1940 when Commander Bradshaw tells Beth that she has a job in Bletchley Park. She signs the Official Secrets Act even though she thinks she is not qualified and is introduced to Dilly. He takes her to meet the other women cryptographers. A woman named Peggy Rock tells Beth about their job and the term Enigma, confident that Beth can help even though Beth does not agree.

Osla gets a letter from Philip in Chapter 11 as Mrs. Finch scolds Beth. Osla worries as Philip is being transferred to another ship. Beth comes upstairs, furious that Osla interfered in her life and Osla thinks she made a mistake.

In Chapter 12, Beth meets Harry and gets upset when he talks about wanting a dog. After three weeks working on the Enigma code, Beth still feels she is too stupid to understand it...
